Actor Jonathan Silverman, Full House creator Jeff Franklin, and comedian Craig Shoemaker are teaming up for a new horror film titled Murder with the Stars. Variety recently reported this exciting development, showcasing an unexpected collaboration between these industry veterans.
An Unanticipated Creative Team
Jonathan Silverman, recognized for his comedic roles in Caddyshack II and the Weekend at Bernie’s series, is set to direct Murder with the Stars. The film will be produced by Jeff Franklin, known for creating the beloved TV series Full House and its sequel Fuller House.
A Blend of Horror and Comedy
The screenplay is penned by comedian Craig Shoemaker, who has written episodes for Just the Ten of Us and Fuller House , as well as the films The Lovemaster and Totally Baked. While not officially labeled as a horror comedy, viewers can expect comedic elements given Shoemaker’s background.
A Collaborative Vision
Shoemaker shared his excitement with Variety: This concept came to me several months ago, and I knew I was onto something unique and fun. Since then, the creative process has unfolded effortlessly with two old friends signing on, Jonathan Silverman and Jeff Franklin. It’s a killer team. In the case of this horror film, pun intended.
A Diverse Team Under One Project
Shoemaker and Franklin are producing Murder with the Stars alongside Pelican Point Media’s Jaclyn and Ike Suri. This film finance and production company has a history of producing both horror and comedy genres.
Silverman’s Versatile Experience
While Silverman has over 120 screen acting credits, his venture into horror is relatively rare. Notably, he recently appeared on the ‘gateway horror’ TV show Goosebumps.
A Multifaceted Talent
He made his directorial debut with the comedy Another Dirty Movie in 2012 and co-directed the romantic comedy The Opposite Sex with his wife Jennifer Finnigan in 2014.
A Unique Bond from ‘Full House’
The relationship between Franklin and Silverman goes beyond professional boundaries. As Franklin pointed out once, “I’ve done a lot of shows, and I’ve never seen a cast bond like this. We’ve stayed really close, to where it feels like a real family.” Their continued friendship likely ensures a smooth collaboration.
