Destiny 2 made a splash right from its release, although its reception has transitioned over time. Destiny 2 is the sequel to the original Destiny game, which was released in 2014. The company was founded in 1991 by Alex Seropian and Jason Jones in Chicago, Illinois. Bungie made waves in the gaming world with the introduction of Marathon in 1994, a first-person shooter lauded for its inventive gameplay and rich storytelling. However, it was their next creation, Halo: Combat Evolved, that elevated Bungie to the global stage.
Unfortunately, in 2007, Bungie announced its intention to split from Microsoft and become an independent company once again. After gaining independence, Bungie waded into a publishing agreement with Activision to work on a new franchise. The release of the Destiny franchise marked the moment when Bungie’s path altered within the gaming industry. In recent years, Bungie has been steadily expanding and supporting the Destiny franchise while also venturing into new initiatives. Despite facing early critiques, the company continues to be held in high regard as one of the most influential developers in the video game industry.
The Storyline of Destiny 2 Is Too Absorbing to Be Pulled Elsewhere
Bungie aims to keep players invested through an unfolding narrative that improves over time, creating an environment where boredom is almost unheard of. The game sets off with the Last City on Earth under attack by the Cabal Red Legion, led by Dominus Ghaul. He believes humanity is not worthy of the Traveler’s Light, so he asserts the dominance of the Traveler and strips the Guardians of their powers. Guardian survivors must reclaim their powers, rally allies, and push back against the Cabal invasion.
After everything went down in the Red War, players ran into a new menace: the Vex, an enigmatic machine race. Later expansions like Curse of Osiris and Warmind dig into the mysteries of time manipulation and the awakening of Rasputin, the Warmind AI, on Mars. The storyline goes down a rabbit hole with Forsaken, where Cayde-6’s demise at the hands of Uldren Sov triggers a pursuit through the Tangled Shore, unveiling the secrets of the Dreaming City and a resurrected Mara Sov.
Shadowkeep takes Guardians back to the Moon to investigate a mysterious disturbance caused by the Hive. They discover that the Hive’s dark god, Crota, has been resurrected and a new threat, the Nightmares, haunts the lunar surface. Beyond Light opens the door for Europa and the Fallen Kell of Darkness, Eramis, while delving into the origins of the Light and Darkness. The game storyline is indeed a thrilling roller coaster ride through the cosmos.
Destiny 2 Is Well-Suited for Beginners to Take Part In, Only If They Are Up to Giving It Their All
The verdict on whether Destiny 2 is good to play for novices would truly depend on various factors, particularly on the type of beginner you are. If a beginner has experience with other first-person shooters or MMO games, they may find picking up Destiny 2 less demanding due to similarities in mechanics and gameplay. On the other hand, newcomers to the genre or those who are less experienced with complex game systems might find it a bit daunting at first. Either way, there’s a learning curve to navigate. Taking small steps is certainly better than taking none at all, so it’s sensible to learn at least the basics of the game and then build from there.
You might want to start by getting the hang of controls inside and out to give yourself a significant edge over opponents. Quick and precise control inputs can make the difference between winning and losing. Basic movement includes aiming, shooting, using abilities, and navigating menus. Even just knowing how to switch weapons, reload, and perform other actions competently can greatly improve your output in combat encounters. You also need to be versed in the different types of weapons and gear.
This includes primary weapons (such as rifles and hand cannons), special weapons (like shotguns and sniper rifles), and heavy weapons (such as rocket launchers and swords). Trying out various weapon types to discover what works best for you is a decision worth making. Each class in Destiny 2 also has its own set of abilities and a potent quality, and you need to know how to use these abilities capably in combat. Destiny 2 provides a range of activities for players to engage in, including story missions, strikes, raids, and more.
Once you grasp the gist of how to progress through these activities and earn rewards, advancing in the game is smooth sailing. Enemies are a staple in every shooter gaming genre. You need to acquaint yourself with the factions (Fallen, Hive, etc.) and their behaviors, which you’ll be coming up against later on in the game. Many enemies in Destiny 2 have shields that provide them with additional protection against certain damage types.
Therefore, you need to catch on to how to quickly break through these shields with the appropriate damage type (e.g., Arc, Solar, Void). Some enemies have weak points that can be exploited for extra damage, such as critical hit spots or exposed vulnerabilities, so make sure to make use of them once you’re in the fray. You can’t become a pro in a specific gaming genre without investing the time to do so. Once you figure out how the basics work, you’ll see a whole new side to the game.
