Five Movies You Totally Forgot Anna Paquin was In

Anna Paquin is probably one of the most underused and underrated stars in Hollywood as of now. She’s had a stellar career thus far but really she isn’t getting the amount of attention she’s due. In movies she’s played some admirable roles despite still being vastly underused. As Rogue in the X-Men she could have been a megastar if the writers and directors had really explored her dynamic and utilized the role she was given in the comics. On screen she’s great, so long as she’s given a believable script and something she can work with. The roles you see below are without a doubt some of her best, but also some of the least known characters she’s ever played.

Maybe one of these days we’ll see her in some big budget flicks where she really belongs. That’d be something to shoot for.

5. The 25th Hour – Mary D’Annunzio

She plays a fairly minor role in this film, but one you could possibly remember her for. Mary is a student that gets involved with her bookish teacher for just a moment before they realize it’s not that great of an idea. After that her involvement is kind of over, and the film goes on. As far as roles go it’s not the worst or smallest in the world but it’s close.

4. Fly Away Home – Amy Alden

This is when she was still very young and yet she’s still so easy to recognize. After finding a clutch of goose eggs young Amy then raises the geese to maturity, and when it’s time she even leads them south as nature intended. Her inventor father helps her by creating an aircraft that she can manage and that the geese can follow. Now that’s inspirational.

3. Scream 4 – Rachel Barnes

This really had to have another sequel? I’m kind of thinking that Anna Paquin was in between projects when she took this minor role, or just had nothing better to do. Anyone connecting themselves to this sinking ship no doubt was either heading into obscurity for good or just got lost on the way to something better. Yes Scream fans, I said it, a sinking ship.

2. Darkness – Regina Rua

Being uprooted from your home to move to the countryside is a big transition, but coming back to a home that your father unknowingly escaped from as a child is something entirely different. She plays a very level-headed character in this film, and you can feel for her near the end when you realize that she and her brother did not manage to get out of the house. They just think they did.

1. Trick r Treat – Laurie

There’s just something very alluring about seeing Anna Paquin in a horror movie, especially in a very provocative Red Riding Hood outfit. But any illusions you have about her being helpless and afraid are shattered quite easily once she finally gets to the party that she’s supposed to be attending with her sister. I don’t know if I should reveal this but, oh what the heck. She’s not the innocent little girl you think, as she and her sister and their friends rip away their skin to reveal the beasts they really are beneath.

I think it safe to say that we would all like to see Anna Paquin in more big budge roles. Why not recast her as Rogue for a standalone movie?
