Ashley Graham is a plus-sized model who has achieved a high level of success in her career. She’s had some challenges along the way including the necessity of managing her ADD and dyslexia. The gorgeous brunette has also had to deal with being overweight, but it didn’t prevent Wilhelmina Models, nor Ford Models for signing her. Her appearance in the 2010 Lane Bryant television commercial resulted in controversy for the model which she addressed publicly on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” A biopic about her life would reach out to women who struggle with weight issues but who would be the best actress to play Ashley in a movie? We have five that we think would be perfect for the part. Here they are and the reasons why.
1. Kate Upton
Model/Actress Kate Upton was born in 1992. She’s a popular actress best known for her roles in the 2011 film “Tower Heist,” as the mistress of Mr. Hightower, as Amber in “The Other Woman in 2014, and Sister Berneice in the 2012 movie “The Three Stooges.” Most recently she appeared as Talia on “Wild Man” in 2017 and as Meg in “The Layover.” One of the most compelling reasons that Kate would be a good choice for the role is that she is an actress with extensive modeling experience. Kate has been featured in various editions of Vogue magazine, Cosmopolitan, GQ, French Elle, The Daily, Muse Magazine and several others. Although we don’t consider her to be that large, she has had to deal with being criticized for being too heavy, and she knows what it is like to work under this kind of stress. We think that Kate could do an amazing job of portraying Ashley Graham in a film, and bringing the emotions to the character, making it a believable movie.
2. Khloe Kardashian
Khloe Kardashian is a socialite and reality television star who definitely knows her way around the fashion world. She has also struggled with maintaining her weight and with various workouts designed to take off the extra pounds. Although there are those who may disagree, we think that she has tremendous potential as an actress, and she should be given a shot at playing the role of Ashley Graham. She has a working knowledge of how the fashion industry works. Khloe is currently involved in the reality television series “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” Her experience in the reality television world may not be comparable to dramatic acting, but we all know that there has been plenty of real-life drama going on within the family and their circle of friends.
3. Georgina Henley
Georgina Henley, also known as “Georgie” is best known for her role in the 2005 movie “Chronicles of Narnia.” Georgie is a lovely girl and she’s also received ten nominations for her acting as well as three awards. She’s also credited with writing and directing the short film TIDE in 2015. We think that she would make an excellent actress to play the role of Ashley Graham. Although she hasn’t had any modeling experience, we think that she could do just about anything that she sets her mind to. Georgie has been involved in stage performances since she was just a young girl and she has plenty of acting experience. Her body type would make her the perfect candidate to play the part.
4. Kat Dennings
Kat Dennings is the stage name for Katherine Victoria Litwack. She’s a native of Pennsylvania who has been acting since she was very young. She started out in the television commercials arena, and then graduated to cameos on television as well as the big screen. You might remember her from her roles in “ER” in 1994 and in the film “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” in 2005. played the lead in “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist” in 2008. Perhaps her biggest role has been as Max Black on the television series “2 Broke Girls.” Kat is a gorgeous actress who is a bit on the plus side and her body style would allow her to play the role of Ashley Graham with no problems.
5. Romola Garai
Romola is another actress that we feel would deliver a convincing performance in the role of Ashley Graham. She’s a British television and film actress who starred in “The Crimson Petal and the White.” She is a two-time nominee for a BAFTA award and has one nomination for a Golden Globe. She’s also been nominated for several other awards because of her acting talent. Romola is a plus-sized actress who has had no trouble landing roles, even in a judgmental environment where body shape is considered essential by some casting crews.
Final thoughts
The actress we think resembles Ashley Graham most is Kat Dennings and she is our number one pick for the role. She does an amazing job in “2 Broke Girls” and she offers a relatable character that television viewers have come to dearly love. Georgina Henley is a close second. We place Kate upon as the third pick as she also would portray Graham convincingly. Romola Garai certainly has the acting experience to pull it off, and Khloe Kardashian would be our fifth choice. Khloe is the actress who most closely resembles Graham, but she hasn’t had as much acting experience as the other ladies in our list of the top five. The reality series doesn’t require the same level of talent as some of the other actresses have evidenced. Still, it would be great to see what she would do with such an important role. Khloe has a message to share with other women and we think that this could end up being a part that she could really relate to and it would be nice to give her a shot at it.
