We don’t know much so far about Bill and Ted Face The Music simply because we don’t even know if it’s really going to be made at this point. All indications seem to point to the fact that it will be made and we’ll get to see Bill and Ted as middle-aged adults with their own families, but there’s still details to be hashed out it would appear. The actors, the director, and the producer know what they want to do and how to go about it, but the argument seems to be if they’ll have an audience that’s ready and willing to see another round of Bill and Ted, especially without George Carlin since he passed away in 2008.
Personally I’d at least be willing to take a look at it since the second film was a bit underwhelming really compared to the first. But the idea so far seems to be that Bill and Ted will be going back in time to interact with their teenage selves, which doesn’t suggest a whole lot of plot. Perhaps they aren’t living the lives they thought they would initially and want to change something? Even better, they could change something and then trigger a butterfly effect in which their lives would be changed so horribly that they suddenly realize just how good their lives really were. That however seems like a plot that’s been done to death within the past two decades, and one that wouldn’t be on par with Bill and Ted.
Like I said, not much is known so far but there would be an attempt to honor George Carlin’s memory as Rufus, which would be pretty cool. You have to think that they would at least try to go back and make an attempt at displaying the Wyld Stallyns and their message to the world and how it made everything so much better. It’d be great to see more elements from the first movie than from the second since the second was, well, not good.
Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves are fully on board though, which is great since without them there isn’t much of a movie. There really hasn’t been any other word on casting though, but you would think that they’d include the princesses that became their wives and perhaps their fathers as well, if they can find the actors. Oh, and Missy, Missy would have to be there in one form or another. For some reason I just get the idea that Missy would have to make an appearance simply because she was somehow so vital to the movie in the first place despite the fact that she didn’t have much of a presence no matter that she was in several shots. Missy is kind of like a piece of scenery that you can’t do without, I know that sounds horrible but her entire purpose within the movie was to be window dressing it seems. Maybe this time she could show up as more of a wizened but important character that could be there for the guys if they needed her.
