A Crazy Roseanne Barr Story From When She was 16

There’s a little more to this story about Roseanne Barr that you might not have read from a couple of other sources, but as a child she had a lot of health problems. As a kid she was really into her faith and despite having to hide it from other people and become superficially involved with a Christian church she was still what one might have called a rather respectful and balanced kid. She was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy, a nervous disorder that causes facial paralysis, when she was three. Initially her mother tried working the power of prayer upon the affliction but found that it didn’t help, at least not right away. When it went away after a Mormon preacher was brought in to pray for Roseanne they believed that the power of prayer had worked. They didn’t know enough to realize that Bell’s Palsy can actually go away on its own.

So she went back to being a good kid for the most part until the day she was hit by a car when she was 16 years of age. Apparently the hood ornament actually imprinted and went through her skull and into her brain. She was in the hospital for six months and when she woke up her personality had changed so radically that it was like the difference between night and day. The brain injury she sustained changed her so much that by the time she was 17 she’d had a child that she quickly put up for adoption, something that seemed entirely unlike her before her accident. Plus, who in the world is able to get up the gumption to get frisky that soon after an injury to the brain? Someone who’s controls just got scrambled a little while before, that’s who.

The odd behavior didn’t end there. At one point she told her friends she was going to Colorado to spend two weeks with a friend. Instead, she just never came back. She made a new life for herself performing standup and traveling around the state to make her mark. Over the years she started getting bigger and bigger shows and would eventually move to LA where she would finally hit it big and get her own show.

It explains a lot however when you try to sort out just why Roseanne is the way she is. For a lot of her career she’s been a coarse, seemingly uncaring and very opinionated person that hasn’t ever held back what she was feeling for anyone at any time. One almost had to think at one point that she was a comic that had really gone through a lot of hell in her life at one point, but to hear that she came from a reasonably well-adjusted family is kind of a shock really.

After all, what kind of person butchers the national anthem and then grabs herself before spitting on the field in a clear show of disrespect? Even worse she walked off the field as though the crowd was giving her a standing ovation, basking in the boos and hate-filled jeers that were coming at her.

If you needed proof that she was a different kind of nuts then that should have done it.
