Great things come to those who wait, especially for fans of White Collar. Series creator Jeff Eastin recently confirmed in Los Angeles that an updated version of the popular police procedural is finally in development. Jeff Eastin stated, I have had some conversations about it early on. It’s exciting stuff.
Stars Return with Enthusiasm
Eastin appeared at a TV festival alongside stars Matt Bomer, Tim DeKay, and Tiffani Thiessen. Bomer expressed his excitement for the reboot saying, It’s been great. I mean, to see everybody today, and actually get into some of the scenes has been amazing.
Bomer went further to stress his enthusiasm saying, I can’t tell you anything except that I’m excited!
Tim DeKay was equally enthusiastic about the script, commenting, The script is fantastic. I think the fans are going to love it.
A Touching Tribute
The reboot also aims to honor the late Willie Garson, who played Mozzie in the original series. Tiffani Thiessen paid tribute to Garson stating, You were a true one of a kind. Rest easy my friend
. Thiessen also noted, With such sensitivity and such heart. I told Jeff after I finished it, I literally was so excited, but at the same time had tears in my eyes — for good reason.
Platform Details Still Under Wraps
No word yet on where this new version will end up airing, although it has been rumored that Hulu might become its home since the series is owned by Disney sibling 20th Television. Currently, the White Collar library is available on Hulu and Netflix.
Historical Reunion Event
Bomer and Eastin sparked conversations about a revival during a charity cast reunion back in 2020 on the “Stars in the House” YouTube channel. Reflecting on that event, Bomer noted, There is nothing I would want more than to be on a set with this group of people again. There are real conversations happening. There seems to be a lot of excitement about it.
Challenges Without Willie Garson
The absence of Willie Garson presents noticeable challenges for the reboot team. Bomer addressed these difficulties by reflecting on what Eastin presented: It honors Willie, too, in a profound way…You captured the suspense, the thrill, the characters and the love in that reboot.
