The beloved Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso may not have reached its end yet, as Warner Bros. CEO Channing Dungey recently shared promising news regarding the potential for a new season or even a spin-off.
Channing Dungey, the chairman of Warner Bros. Television Group, explained during a Deadline-moderated panel at Canada’s Banff World Media Festival that both Warner Bros. and Apple are keen on continuing the story of Ted Lasso in some capacity. Whether this will take the form of a Season 4 or a new spin-off remains to be seen.
Commenting on the discussions, Dungey shared, We’ve had conversations about all of the above. I think Jason Sudeikis is open to the idea, but I think he wants to have the right idea, which I appreciate it. We at Warner Bros. appreciate, Apple appreciates, because it’s the sort of thing where you don’t want to go do more, just for the sake of more, you want to go do more, because you actually have something to say, you have a story that you want to tell. We’ll see what happens.
Sudeikis Open to More
Jason Sudeikis, who plays the titular character, has also expressed his openness to returning for another round of Ted Lasso, albeit with certain conditions. He mentioned in an interview with Deadline that although many factors need to align for another season, the overwhelming response from fans is incredibly motivating.
Sudeikis noted, I don’t know, it’s up to more factors than myself. The response has been overwhelming. We have a tremendous group of writers, actors, people in production and post-production, all of those thrown in the jambalaya of possibility. I couldn’t say yes or no. I know this part of the show is what it’s supposed to be.
Supporting Characters Shine with Potential Spin-Offs
A significant part of Ted Lasso‘s charm lies in its rich ensemble cast and intricate character arcs. The Season 3 finale saw Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) stepping into Lasso’s coaching shoes alongside Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) and Nathan Shelley (Nick Mohammed).
