Tom Felton’s Acting Career Turned Out Better Than We all Thought

Most people will remember Tom Felton as the English actor who played Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies. However, it should be noted that he started appearing in commercials at the age of eight, which led to multiple roles in multiple movies and TV shows before he was cast as his most famous character. Furthermore, it should be noted that Felton has continued acting since the Harry Potter franchise, meaning that his career is much more impressive than a lot of people might have expected.

What Has Tom Felton Been Up to Since the Harry Potter Movies?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 was released in 2011. Since that time, Felton has continued appearing in a wide range of movies with a wide range of material.

For example, he had a minor role as Dodge Landon in Rise of the Planet of the Apes that came out in 2011, though considering the exact nature of the character, one cannot help but suspect that his best-known role might have had some influence in the casting. Following Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Felton appeared in a couple of movies in 2012, with one being The Apparition and the other being From the Rough. In the first movie, he played Patrick, a college student with some knowledge of the monster that served as the center of the horror movie but nonetheless succumbed to it.

In contrast, Felton played Edward in From the Rough, who was being coached to play golf at the collegiate level by the former swim coach protagonist. Likewise, 2013 saw Felton playing an arrogant, upper-class twit in the period piece Belle as well as the murder victim of the main couple in In Secret. Finally, Felton appeared as one of a number of U.S. Navy airmen who had been shot down in the Second World War but nonetheless managed to survive out on the open ocean with nothing but a small life raft in Against the Sun, which was based on a real story and released via video on demand.

With that said, it is interesting to note that 2016 saw Felton appearing in four movies rather than just one or two. First, there was Risen, in which Felton played the role of an aide to a Roman tribune searching for Jesus’s corpse without knowing of the Resurrection. Interestingly, while Felton’s character was antagonistic, he was not altogether unreasonable when interacting with his former superior after he had left the Roman fold. Moving on, Felton also contributed to the dub of Sheep and Wolves while playing minor roles in both Message from the King and A United Kingdom. The current year of 2017 is seeming much the same, with Felton having already had a minor role in Megan Leavey, while Stratton and Feed are expected to see release sometime soon.

Besides the movies, Felton has also had a number of appearances in media projects meant for the TV screen since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in 2011. However, the most interesting examples might be his role as both director and interviewer on Tom Felton Meets the Superfans, his main role in the first season of Murder in the First, and his recurring role on The Flash. Summed up, while Felton’s career might not have hit the same heights since his best-known role in the Harry Potter movies, he has been in no small number of roles.
