10 Things You Didn’t Know about Saweetie

Some days it seems as though new artists are coming out every other day and then some years it feels as though only one or two will pop up every now and then. Saweetie, real name Diamonte Harper, is one of those lucky individuals that got noticed and signed fairly recently, within the last couple of years, and has been gaining in popularity ever since she first came on the scene. If you don’t know her that well don’t be too upset since she’s still making inroads with her music and is still getting bigger as the years pass by. The rap game isn’t always the easiest to break into since anyone and everyone that can spit a rhyme tends to think that they have a shot at some point. Weeding through the lot of them to get to the truly talented and gifted individuals does take time, but occasionally you do find one that has what it takes to really make it. Here are a few things about Saweetie you might not have known.

10. She started writing music at the age of 14.

Her desire to rap has been building for a while until she finally found the outlet for her work and started spitting her rhymes online where she first got noticed. A lot of artists seem to start pretty young when it comes to putting their words down on paper where everything begins.

9. Saweetie did finish college before moving on to a rap career.

Too often when you take a look at the bios of musicians and actors you tend to find that a lot of them either dropped out because they couldn’t hack it or because they wanted to get their careers started. Saweetie did take the time to get her education and finish before diving headfirst into her desired career.

8. Her earliest raps went viral online before she really became popular.

A lot of her early stuff was online as she would take to Instagram and a couple of other platforms to push her tracks so that people could listen. Obviously folks liked what they saw since they responded in a big way and started to support her efforts.

7. She’s very active on social media and has the numbers to prove it.

So far she has well over two million followers on her Instagram and that number seems primed to go up as her popularity continues to soar and her career continues to take off. Obviously she’s posting quite a bit in order to keep her fans happy.

6. As of now she’s in her mid-20s.

It goes without saying that she’s got a lot of time on her hands to continue her career and possibly make certain that she continues to blow up on the music scene. A lot of people tend to come and go in a few years’ time, but the ones that are truly dedicated to the music are the ones that stick around and become legends.

5. She doesn’t really worry about what people say about her.

Kristin Cory of Vice points out that while people are always going to have something to say about anyone that’s famous it would seem that Saweetie just doesn’t care. She’s putting in the work to make her career what she wants it to be and isn’t really stressing over what people have to say. That’s the best attitude to have since if an artist tried to appease everyone all the time they’d end up spending more time worrying about perfection and less time getting things done.

4. Her breakout song was released in 2017.

With this in mind it’s obvious that she hasn’t been on the scene all that long. In fact she just signed with her record label in 2018 so it’s fair to say that she’s still got a lot to learn, but so far she’s been doing quite a bit when it comes to securing her place in the music industry.

3. She used to work in a hat store before becoming famous.

Everyone had to start somewhere, but it’s pretty interesting to figure out what people were doing before they became famous and how long they were there. Some folks had some truly wretched jobs before they hit it big, but the hope is that the lot of them remember just where they came from and don’t let the life change them.

2. Apparently she grew up around MC Hammer and his family.

That’d be a big up for a person’s chances of getting into the business you would think since being able to say that you know someone that was there and that was in the life would be a great recommendation for a look at least.

1. At this time her net worth is around $250,000.

That’s pretty low when it comes to a net worth for a celebrity, but given that she’s still fairly new it does seem fair to state that this number will go up eventually.

Check her out, it’ll be worth your time.
