RICHMOND, Va. — Ronnie Logan has been crowned as the Best Chef at the recent Six in the City Southern BBQ Experience in Chicago. A decade-long journey that began after losing his full-time job at 57 has culminated in this top honor for Logan, who now runs Original Ronnie’s BBQ with his family in eastern Henrico County.
The event saw participation from pitmasters and chefs hailing from Alabama, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, and North Carolina. Logan expressed his excitement stating, It’s an incredible honor for our team to be recognized in such a prestigious competition.
This marks a significant achievement not only for Logan but also for his community. Jerrine Lee, VP of Sales at Richmond Region Tourism who partnered with Ronnie’s BBQ for the event, reflected on the win saying, This was an exciting ‘win’ for our region.
A Journey Rooted in Passion
Logan’s passion for barbecue is evident from his words in a 2019 interview on the Eat It, Virginia podcast: A whole lotta men don’t really get to do what they’re called to do, I think, if you can do that, man, that’s one of the biggest things in life, to do something you love.
Diverse Flavor Profile
At the event, Original Ronnie’s BBQ delighted attendees with a diverse menu that included:
- Brown sugar bacon sriracha deviled eggs
- Virginia smoked brisket
