Ranking the Top Five “Real Housewives Of” Shows

The Real Housewives of Atlanta - Season 5

“The Real Housewives” is an interesting franchise portraying the “real” lives of upper class women in certain cities across the United States. However, there are some shows that are perceived as much more appealing and enjoy much more fame than the others. Here you can get a glimpse of our picks of the top five “Real Housewives of” shows and make your judgement on which one you like the most.

1. The Real Housewives of Atlanta

This version of the show originally premiered in 2008 and features a predominantly African American cast. One of the most appealing factors of this show was that the women seemed to have it all — rich husbands and even shady, yet intriguing, back stories. All of them tend to be loud and obnoxious and always ready to snatch someone’s wig off when the need arose.  It still remains a crowd favorite.

2. The Real Housewives of Orange County

This is the show that started it all. The Real Housewives of Orange County premiered in 2006 and compared to the other versions, it seemed like a completely different show that focused on stay-at-home and working moms and their day to day lives. During this show, the women did not really interact with one another. While the show evolved over the 10 seasons it was on air, it was the best of the best in many fan’s opinions.

3. The Real Housewives of New Jersey

This is perhaps the most talked about and remembered cast of the entire franchise. The most memorable event was when cast members, Teresa and Joe Giudice getting ready to go to prison for lying on their taxes, writing bad checks and bank fraud. This was the series that took the drama to an all new level, including accusations, illegal actions, cheating and more. This was one of the most popular in the series that is still talked about today.

4. The Real Housewives of Melbourne

This show was developed as being an international installment of this highly successful franchise produced by Bravo. This version premiered in 2014 and saw quite a bit of success. It aired for four seasons and even created two spin-offs — one based in Sydney and one in Auckland. The women who were featured in the show were extremely well received by the audience and provided the perfect balance of glamour and drama.

5. The Real Housewives of Vancouver

This was the very first — and likely the very last — Canadian installment of this franchise. The Vancouver version of the show featured just two seasons and during this time the case mostly underwent plastic surgery, took trips to Whistler B.C. and donned “Prada Slippers.” It originally premiered in April of 2012, and got off to a pretty good start; however, as the series continued, the ratings dropped and after season two, the show was dropped as well. The franchise leaders stated they were looking to explore other options to replace this version of the show.
