(Warning: Spoilers from Season Two finale of Perfect Match
.)
The latest season of Perfect Match was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. In the Season Two finale, which premiered on June 21, the returning contestants were tasked with voting for the most compatible couple. The remaining couples also cast their votes but were barred from voting for themselves. Host Nick Lachey then unveiled that the winners would receive an all-expenses-paid vacation to help strengthen their bond.
This season’s competing couples included Micah Lussier and Kaz Bishop, Alara Taneri and Stevan Ditter, Tolú Ekundare and Chris Hahn, Christine Obanor and Nigel Jones, and Bryton Constantin and Elys Hutchinson. Like last season, this prize was the same given to Dom Gabriel and Georgia Hassarati, who unfortunately broke up before they could enjoy their world trip together.
Crowning the Champions
After extensive speeches and eliminations, Lachey announced that the winning duo claimed victory by a single vote. Christine Obanor and Nigel Jones emerged as the victorious couple, securing their pre-honeymoon vacation.
The show wrapped up with clips from Christine and Nigel’s trip to Thailand. Christine expressed her excitement by calling Nigel her person,
adding that she had manifested him,
emphasizing a connection she feels is meant to be.
Dramatic Connections Among the Cast
The finale wasn’t devoid of drama. Dom Gabriel highlighted some intriguing moments between Tolú Ekundare and Chris Hahn, stating, Tolú had been hitting it off with Chris Hahn while they were still matched.
This sentiment adds layers to Tolú and Chris’s evolving relationship. They initially shared a strong friendship until a dare led them to deepen their connection.
The Couples’ Differences
The season didn’t shy away from showing the highs and lows of relationships. Some pairs like Micah Lussier and Kaz Bishop showcased a dramatic journey filled with ups and downs. They made it to the finale despite being labeled by some as one of Netflix reality shows’ more toxic couples,
Viewers were keen on knowing: “But did they make it outside of the villa?
” Such questions around the genuine success of these reality TV relationships keep audiences hooked.
The Finalists at The Villa
Of course, not every journey ended in bliss or unity. Bryton Constantin and Elys Hutchinson’s path crossed Alara Taneri and Stevan Ditter’s competitive spirits in vying for compatibility.
A Notable Absence in Finale Hosting Duties
This season’s conclusion also marked a surprising absence: Nick Lachey did not appear in person for the finale episode.
Lachey’s hosting via remote prompts questions about possible changes to the show’s format or his future involvement. Nonetheless, his presence continues to anchor the series even when it shifts dynamics.
