Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos recently had a touching reunion with someone special from their All My Children days. During a live episode of their show Live with Kelly and Mark, the duo reconnected with the actress who played their on-screen baby, Enzo.
Ripa, 53, and Consuelos, also 53, starred as Hayley Vaughan and Mateo Santos on the beloved soap opera from 1995 to 2002. The couple’s on-screen son, Enzo, was portrayed by a then-baby girl who surprisingly appeared in the audience on Monday, June 17.
An Unexpected Revelation
The young woman introduced herself to the hosts by saying, Yeah … I’m a girl, not a boy
. She added that she has a twin brother who didn’t have enough hair for the role at the time, so she was brought in as his stand-in.
The former actress, who is turning 23 next month, shared an interesting anecdote: I guess on the set my mom held Lola and you held me
. It turns out that she is only a few days younger than the real-life daughter of Ripa and Consuelos, adding another layer of nostalgia to the reunion.
A Storied Connection
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos originally met on the set of All My Children in 1995. Consuelos joined as Mateo Santos, a character created specifically for him due to his Latino heritage. Ripa fondly recalled during a SiriusXM interview in August 2018 how they auditioned numerous actors before finding Consuelos.They’d been looking for this character for some time… They didn’t want a dark-haired guy; they wanted a Latino actor. Then all of a sudden, Judy Blye Wilson… said, ‘I found him,’
Ripa remembered.
A Long-lasting Relationship
The couple tied the knot in 1996 and went on to have three children together: Michael, 26; Lola, 22; and Joaquin, 21.
Their enduring relationship was evident during their heartfelt anniversary celebration on set. Reflecting on their 28-year journey together, Consuelos commented,I was in bed last night trying to do the math… My benchmark for a long time is going through first grade to being a senior in high school. Twelve years is a long time… It’s like doing that twice plus a PhD!
