Dinosaurs are set to make a grand return in 2025 with the much-anticipated new installment of Jurassic Park. This announcement comes just two years after the series rebooted with Jurassic World Dominion. The excitement is fueled by the talent involved, notably with veteran screenwriter David Koepp returning to pen the script.
Gareth Edwards Takes the Helm
Initially, The Fall Guy’s David Leitch was in talks to direct, but Gareth Edwards, known for his work on Godzilla and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, will be directing this untitled sequel. Edwards remarked that he dropped everything to seize this opportunity:
I was about to take a break and I started writing my next idea for a film and this is the only movie that would make me drop everything like a stone and dive right in.
Returning Legends: Spielberg and Koepp
Steven Spielberg, who profoundly influenced cinema by bringing dinosaurs to life, will serve as executive producer yet again. Combining his vision with Koepp, who previously worked on three films in the series, guarantees an engaging continuation of the beloved saga.
Mystery Behind the Plot
The studios are keeping plot details under wraps, but one certainty is that dinosaurs will roam once again. The story may pick up where Jurassic World Dominion left off, exploring a world where humans coexist with dinosaurs. Alternatively, it could take fresh inspiration from Michael Crichton’s original novel.
An Exciting Ensemble Cast
The rumor mill suggests that Scarlett Johansson is negotiating to lead this cinematic venture. Joining her are Oscar winner Mahershala Ali, Bridgerton’s star Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Rupert Friend.
A July 2025 Release
The release is scheduled for July 2nd, 2025. Filming is set to start this summer in Malta and continue into early fall in London. Given no unforeseen delays, it aims to be a highlight of next summer’s blockbuster line-up.
