Paddington 3 — also known as Paddington in Peru — is set to hit cinemas this November, and today we’ve been treated to the first trailer. As the name suggests, this film will take our beloved bear on a heartwarming journey back to his roots.
This much-anticipated trailer showcases Paddington’s adventure with the Brown family in Peru where they visit Aunt Lucy at the Home for Retired Bears. However, instead of a joyful reunion, they’re met with unexpected news: Aunt Lucy has embarked on a mysterious quest.
Things quickly turn exciting as Paddington heads into the forest with Hunter Cabot (Antonio Banderas), an adventurous riverboat captain, to find her. Joined by the Browne family, their journey plunges them into the stunning vistas of the Amazon rainforest and mountainous regions of Peru.
During a trailer preview event today (June 12), director Dougal Wilson explained the importance of shifting locations away from London for this third installment. “The first film gives us a bit of information about where Paddington came from and how he found his home in London. And then the second story, he almost loses that home, but in doing so consolidates his community in London and his friends
,” Wilson said.
“We thought for the third film, it was very appropriate to return to Peru, but this time take his London friends and community with him and have an adventure there and in doing so, fill in some of the missing pieces about what we didn’t learn in the first two films
,” Wilson added.
Star-studded Cast Delivers Exciting Performances
The movie sees the return of familiar voices and faces with Ben Whishaw once again voicing Paddington Bear. Known for his exceptional work in previous installments, Whishaw’s involvement continues to excite fans.
Moreover, Olivia Colman joins the cast as Reverend Mother, who not only plays a key role but also showcases her musical talent in a brief yet memorable Sound of Music-esque scene seen in the trailer.
New Faces Enrich the Beloved Series
This installment embraces change with Emily Mortimer taking over as Mrs. Brown from Sally Hawkins. Hawkins commented that it was the right time to hand the reins over to another

Joining them are newcomers Carla Tous as Gina, Hunter Cabot’s daughter, originally meant to be played by Rachel Zegler, and Antonio Banderas as Hunter Cabot. Their inclusion promises fresh dynamics and intriguing interactions.
A Directorial Debut Anchored With Trust
This marks Dougal Wilson’s debut as a film director. Known for his award-winning music videos, Wilson steps into big shoes left by Paul King, who directed the first two films. While King is not directing this time, he remains closely involved with executive credits and story contributions.
