Emily Osment noted this switch with excitement: *Because of COVID, I haven’t done live audience in a long time. And so now… we’re actually able to open it up so we can have a live audience… it’s like throwing a party.*

This spin-off ensures continuity by bringing back some familiar faces from the original series while also focusing largely on new characters and plotlines. Emily Osment explained: *[Characters from Young Sheldon] still exist in this world. They’re still around and can make appearances and drop by.*
