Fans Fill Fenway Park for Banana Ball
Fans flocked to Fenway Park on Saturday, transforming the iconic stadium into a sea of yellow for the sold-out Savannah Bananas game.
A Different Kind of Baseball
It’s baseball with a twist,
said Savannah Bananas player Ethan Skuija. The teams, including the Party Animals, feature skilled players who add a flair to the sport.
The showmanship includes backflip catches and long-toss skills.
The Performance Element
We’ve got some different rules,
Skuija noted, emphasizing the unique aspects that define Banana Ball. For instance, a batter is out if a fan catches a fly ball. This interactive component makes it more than just another baseball game.
Savannah Bananas Sell Out Fenway
The Savannah Bananas are on tour and thrilled to perform in their second MLB stadium performance. Jared Orton, president of the Savannah Bananas said,When this stadium was built in 1912, I don’t think they thought Banana Ball was coming.
A Dream Come True
Noah Fisher captured the sentiment of the players and fans alike by stating,This is what every kid dreams of growing up. We get to do it in front of one of the greatest crowds in sports.
A Blend of Talent
The players on both teams have diverse backgrounds, ranging from former MLB athletes to fresh college graduates. We want to make baseball fun for now 37,000 people. People are looking for something to celebrate; to do it with the Fenway Park staff and Red Sox and put on a show tonight,
, said Orton.
The combination of skillful play and light-hearted entertainment helps keep the audience engaged throughout the event.
