Yvette Nicole Brown is set to stir things up in Season 2 of the Paramount+ revival of Frasier.
The accomplished Community actress will appear as Monica, older sister to Olivia, played by Toks Olagundoye. According to the character description, Monica is part haughty professor, part Nancy Drew
, and brilliant, biting, and delightfully deadpan
. Brown’s Monica has everything Olivia wants and often reminds her of it. She joins a cast that aims to deliver fresh and engaging dynamics to the beloved series.
Classic Cast Members Are Returning
Season 2 will also see some familiar faces making a comeback. Peri Gilpin returns as Dr. Frasier Crane’s memorable former KACL co-worker, Roz Doyle. Reflecting on her character, Gilpin noted she wished Roz could have been more like Liz Lemon from 30 Rock.
Alice Returns All Grown Up
Kelsey Grammer‘s real-life daughter, Greer Grammer, joins the cast as Roz’s grown-up daughter, Alice. Described as outgoing and friendly, Alice complicates Freddie’s romantic plans when she comes to visit.
Diversity and Representation on Screen
This season also marks a deliberate move towards greater representation with two women of color in central roles. Besides Brown’s Monica, Toks Olagundoye continues her role as Olivia Finch.
