Tim DeKay and Tiffani Thiessen have confirmed their participation in the much-anticipated White Collar revival that Matt Bomer hinted about last November.
Following months of speculation and clues, Bomer had revealed that there were very legitimate talk
regarding the comeback of USA Network’s blue sky drama. The series, which aired from October 2009 to December 2014, followed Bomer’s portrayal of suave conman Neal Caffrey.
Bomer divulged that while a lot of things need to fall into place, but there is a plan in effect
. Fast forward seven months to a milestone: the 15th anniversary panel held at Variety’s TV Fest. During this session, White Collar‘s creator Jeff Eastin mentioned he was penning the new script. Subsequently, Bomer, DeKay, and Thiessen all eagerly stated their readiness by raising their hands to signal they were in
.
Tragically, the original cast’s fourth main member, Willie Garson, passed away in September 2021. However, last fall Bomer stressed that this new version respects what Garson brought to the show as Mozzie. He said Eastin’s draft honors what [Willie] contributed
and honors him personally as well. Bomer asserted he would return only if it was done right: There’s no way I would ever be involved with it again if it didn’t [honor him]
.
Tiffani Thiessen reaffirmed this sentiment at Thursday’s TV Fest by acknowledging the script handles Garson’s memory with such sensitivity and such heart
. She shared how important it felt to everyone on a personal level to honor Garson.
The anticipated script also garnered praise from DeKay who described it as both comprehensive and transformative: It answers all the questions that one would have if you watch the show and introduces it to those who haven’t seen it as well
.
No official outlet has been confirmed for broadcasting the revival yet. Speculations suggest Hulu could be its new home since White Collar was originally a Fox Television Studios production.
