Audrey Diwan’s highly anticipated erotic drama “Emmanuelle” has unveiled its first trailer, captivating audiences with its provocative narrative ahead of the world premiere at the San Sebastian Film Festival this September.

Diwan, known for her Venice Golden Lion-winning film “Happening, co-wrote this adaptation with Rebecca Zlotowski, focusing on the female gaze in a profound journey of self-discovery.

In the title role is “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” star Noémie Merlant. Her character embarks on an international business trip to Hong Kong, initiating numerous passionate encounters while searching for a lost pleasure. Notable cast members include Naomi Watts, Jamie Campbell Bower, Chacha Huang, and Anthony Wong. Bower, familiar to many as Vecna from “Stranger Things”, takes on an intriguing role in this fresh spin on Eroticism.

Discussing her method, Diwan reveals, I haven’t seen the whole of the original movie. I wasn’t born when it came out. I discovered the story through the book.
