The legendary Stevie Nicks made a special appearance at Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour concert in Dublin on Sunday. The evening was marked by a heartwarming tribute from Swift to her long-time friend and musical icon, Nicks.
A Heartfelt Tribute to an Icon
During the concert, Swift paused to express her gratitude to Nicks. Swift highlighted Nicks’ influence by saying, This one is a pretty easy one because I’ve never played this one live before… The reason I want to play this tonight is because a friend of mine is here who is watching the show and who has really been one of the reasons why I or any female artist gets to do what we get to do. She’s paved the way for us.
She continued with commendation, stating, She’s just become friends with so many female artists just to be a guiding hand. I can’t tell you how rare that is. She’s a hero of mine and also someone that I can tell her any secret, and she’d never tell anybody. She’s really helped me through so much over the years. I’m talking about Stevie Nicks.
Moving Performances
Swift celebrated the moment by performing a special mashup of her songs Clara Bow and The Lucky One. Notably, in Clara Bow, she sings about women in the music industry being compared, mentioning, You look like Stevie Nicks in ’75.
A Song of Remembrance
The night also featured Swift’s poignant performance of You’re on Your Own, Kid. This song holds particular significance for Nicks, as she once remarked it reminded her of her late Fleetwood Mac bandmate, Christine McVie. During one of Nicks’ concerts in 2023, she conveyed her appreciation to Swift: Thank you to Taylor Swift for doing this thing for me, and that is writing a song called ‘You’re on Your Own, Kid.’ That is the sadness of how I feel.
A History of Collaboration
Nicks’ presence wasn’t the first time she shared a significant stage with Swift. Back at the Grammy Awards in 2010, they performed a medley including Rhiannon and You Belong With Me, cementing their bond as musicians across generations.
