Starz Schedules Premiere for Three Women Series With Shailene Woodley

Starz has finally set the premiere date for the highly anticipated series Three Women. The series is based on Lisa Taddeo’s acclaimed nonfiction bestseller and is set to air on September 13, available at midnight on the Starz app and at 10:00 PM on cable.

Shailene Woodley stars as Gia, a writer grieving the loss of her family. The narrative focuses on her interviews with three women about their stories of love, life, and loss.

The core cast includes Betty Gilpin as Lina, DeWanda Wise who plays Sloane, and Gabrielle Creevy portraying Maggie. Sloane is a glamorous entrepreneur in the Northeast, says Wise, describing her complex character who navigates a committed open marriage until it runs into unexpected challenges.

This project had an interesting journey before landing on Starz. Originally set for Showtime with a planned 2022 release, Three Women was scrapped post-production due to Showtime’s merger with Paramount+. It was then shopped around to HBO and Amazon before being acquired by Starz.

The series is created by Lisa Taddeo herself with The Loudest Voice‘s Laura Eason as showrunner. Emmy Rossum and Kathy Ciric also serve as executive producers. The first two episodes are directed by Louise Friedberg (Borgen, Y: The Last Man).
