CLEVELAND, Ohio – A quick stop for some pop and lottery tickets turned into a windfall of cash for one lucky man.
According to officials with the Ohio Lottery, Roy Thiel of Brooklyn won $10,000 on a 50th Anniversary scratch-off ticket.
A Lucky Buy at Get Go
Thiel purchased the ticket at the GetGo on Ridge Road in Cleveland just ahead of Father’s Day.
I went up to GetGo to get myself a couple of two-for-four Pepsi’s. I stuck 60 bucks in the machine and bought a $50 ticket and a $10 ticket,
said Thiel.
The Big Reveal
When he got home, Thiel scratched off the tickets in his living room. He said,When I was scratching the 50, I hit all the numbers. My daughter was in the living room. I said, ‘Dang, this is going to be a good one.’
Takes Home a Nice Sum
After taxes, Theil will take home about $7,200.
The 50th Anniversary is a $50 scratch-off game where players can win up to $15,000,000. According to the Ohio Lottery, the overall odds of winning are 1 in 3.97.
