In his video, Easton said, I’ve always been partial to the Irish good-bye. That’s where you leave the party without actually telling anyone you’re gone. But I thought you all deserved better. So I just want to let you know that I just filmed my final scenes here at General Hospital. He added, I’ve loved every minute that I’ve been here. I want to thank the entire cast and crew for allowing me to share their stage these past 10 years. Most importantly, I want to thank all of you for the kindness and love you’ve shown me and my family. I won’t ever forget you.

Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) responded warmly to his announcement, praising Easton’s demeanor: The class, grace and elegance in which you just did that is why I will miss you every working day.

Easton’s Early Career

The actor started his soap career on Days of Our Lives, playing Tanner Scofield from 1990-1992. In a 2015 interview, he fondly recalled the moment he landed the role: I do remember standing at a pay phone on Venice Boulevard and getting the call that I got the part and having just enough change in my pocket to call my mom back home and tell her. She cried. He later joked about his departure from the show, suggesting his rebellious nature might have contributed to it: I think that rebelling got me fired, actually. They wanted me to be rebellious on-screen, not off.

A Diverse Journey

Easton ventured into prime-time television with roles in shows like Ally McBeal and Total Recall. He returned to daytime television in 2000 with Port Charles, where he played Stephen and Caleb until the GH spin-off was canceled in 2003.
His tenure on One Life To Live, where he portrayed John McBain until the show’s end in 2012. His portrayal of McBain led to an overlap with General Hospital, but contract disputes forced changes leading to new roles like Silas Clay. However, Easton admitted that his run as Silas was challenging because he had no input into character development: I tried very hard, but I don’t feel like I ever got a good hold on that character.
