The soap opera world is once again buzzing with news as Michael Easton, who has played Hamilton Finn on General Hospital, announced his departure.
Michael Easton broke the news to his fans via an Instagram video shared late at night outside the General Hospital studio. In the video, he shared, I’ve always been partial to the Irish goodbye. That’s where you leave the party without actually telling anyone you’re gone. But I thought you all deserved better, so I just wanted to let you know that I just filmed my final scenes here at General Hospital.
A Decade of Memories
Easton, who joined General Hospital as John McBain from One Life to Live in January 2012, has played multiple roles on the show over his tenure.
He participated enthusiastically in a wide range of storylines as Finn, including notable interactions with his daughter and heartfelt scenes where Finn goes to rehab.
A Journey Through Soap Opera
Fans will remember Michael Easton’s extensive history in daytime television, which started with his debut as Tanner Scofield on Days of Our Lives.
He later took on the popular role of Caleb Morley on the GH spinoff Port Charles, and then transitioned to playing Detective John McBain on One Life to Live.
An Illustrious Career and Fond Farewell
Despite facing legal issues that required changes in character roles within General Hospital, Easton’s performances never faltered. From playing Dr. Silas Clay, who met a dramatic end in 2015, to embodying Hamilton Finn, his contributions earned him a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in 2018.
A Thankful Goodbye
Easton’s message conveyed sincere gratitude as he said, I’ve loved every minute that I’ve been here. I want to thank the entire cast and crew for allowing me to share their stage this past 10 years. Most importantly, I want to thank all of you for the kindness and love you’ve shown me and my family. I won’t ever forget you. And as I walk out here for the last time, and with apologies to the great Lou Gehrig, I feel like the luckiest man on the face of the Earth.
The final air date for Easton’s last episode remains unannounced, but fans are already bracing themselves for a heartfelt goodbye.
