What We Know about “The Haunting of Sharon Tate” So Far

So far what we know about The Haunting of Sharon Tate is that it’s going to get understandably dark.  It’s expected really since it’s about the last days of the actress Sharon Tate before her brutal murder at the hands of the Manson family in 1969. At this point we also know that Hillary Duff, one of the most wholesome and well-liked actresses and singers from a decade and more ago, will be playing Tate and will likely give the role a very innocent look that will send chills down the spines of those who aren’t afraid to watch what’s coming.

The obsession with the Manson family murders is still very much a part of the public consciousness and likely won’t go away anytime soon since people, for some reason, love to hear about and watch these tragedies as though they’re must-see-TV. Personally it’s a bit grim but I won’t actively tread on anyone’s idea of what entertainment is since it’d make me look like a humongous hypocrite. But sometimes, just sometimes, some of the subjects that are covered in film and in TV are undeniably dark and don’t seem to care for the fact that this was real life and was a horrendous act of carnage that made no sense.

Worse still is the fact that Tate was pregnant when she and her child were murdered. She was expected to give birth only two weeks before her death, which is something that any father would likely have killed every single one of the Manson family for had they been given the chance. But the maniacal, unbridled fanaticism that gripped the Manson family at that time was not to be taken lightly. They were absolutely crazed and so out of control that standing up to them with anything but a full arsenal at your disposal would have been seen as folly. And unfortunately had anyone had the foresight to eliminate the Manson family beforehand they would have been locked up as murderers and Charlie Manson might have been called “misunderstood” and even been labeled as a victim of false allegations.

As it is he’s no longer a concern to the world, at least not in any physical sense. He passed away last year, and I’m certain only those that truly cared about him, if any remained, were sorry to see him go. There is real evil in this world no matter that it often gets diagnosed as mental disorders and other various ailments. It exists, no matter how we try to rationalize it. What we don’t need to do is glorify it through film, which is a fervent hope of some in the matter of this film. Sharon Tate has been recorded stating that she had predicted her death by some satanic cult, though whether the Manson family was listening and decided to make it come true or they simply singled her out at random is hard to know for sure. All that is known at this point is that the murder was one that managed to help Manson become a name known throughout history.
