Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World 4 is set to bring dinosaurs back to life in new and unexpected settings. The filmmakers have chosen exotic locales like Thailand for shooting, adding a fresh and unique backdrop to the franchise. Bustling cities such as Bangkok will be featured, alongside serene landscapes that capture Thailand’s natural beauty.
Scenes will also be filmed in national parks across Krabi, Phuket, Phang-nga, and Trang, showcasing the country’s diverse environments. Additionally, the picturesque Huay To waterfall in Khao Phanom Bencha National Park is among the noteworthy locations, promising breathtaking visuals and exciting new adventures for fans of the series.
Star-studded Cast
Leading the ensemble cast is Scarlett Johansson, who is joined by Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise, and David Iacono. The film promises to be a visual spectacle as it follows three adults and three teenagers stranded on an island packed with prehistoric dangers.
The movie is directed by Gareth Edwards, who previously helmed the popular sci-fi action flick The Creator
. This time around, he brings his directorial flair to the world of ferocious dinosaurs.
Environmental Concerns
The director general of Thailand’s Department of Tourism, Jaturon Phakdeewanit, has confirmed that filming in Thailand will run from June to July. However, there are significant environmental concerns being raised. “It is strictly required that they comply with relevant laws and regulations, and must not affect and damage natural resources and the environment,”
said Natural Resources and Environment Minister Phatcharavat Wongsuwan.
A New Jurassic Era
What sets this new installment apart from its predecessors is its conceptual reboot. Scripted by David Koepp, the story introduces a completely fresh take on the franchise. Labelled as “Jurassic City” by some sources, the film aims to launch a new Jurassic era.
Beyond Thailand, additional filming will take place in Malta between July and September at iconic spots like Sky Studios Elstree and through Saga Productions. The project is slated for a July 2, 2025 release date.
