The upcoming season of The Bachelorette is generating a buzz as fans eagerly await to see Jenn Tran take the lead on her journey to find love. Slated to begin on July 8, this season is particularly special because Jenn is making history as the first Asian American Bachelorette.

She reflected on the significance of Asian representation on TV, mentioning how growing up she seldom saw people who looked like her in main roles. Growing up, I’ve always wanted to see Asian representation on TV. It felt sparse. Anytime Asians were in the media, it was to fill a supporting character role, to fulfill some sort of stereotype.

Jenn Tran has been candid about what she’s looking for in a partner. Specifically, she expressed her desire for someone who can balance her fiery personality. I want someone to ground me. I’m a Sagittarius, I’m a fire sign, so I’m a little crazy… I bring that fiery energy and I want someone to have a little bit of fiery energy but also to ground me.
