Incident Overview
On June 20, 2024, an intense domestic altercation in Kimberly, FA ended with Roberta Bickford behind bars. The confrontation escalated when Bickford reportedly spat on her boyfriend, threw a glass saucer at him, and her dog bit him on the thigh.
Emergency Response
At approximately 6:30 PM, the Fayette County 911 Center received a distress call reporting a domestic dispute. Roberta Bickford alleged her boyfriend, Michael Wayne Proctor, had threatened her with a knife. Responding to the situation, Deputy Sheriff C.D. Cogar arrived at the scene.
Conflicting Narratives
Around 7:20 PM, Deputies Cogar and T. Farley found Michael Wayne Proctor walking down the road. He was detained and brought back to the residence for further inquiry. Bickford admitted to drinking earlier that evening and recounted that upon her return home, Proctor’s confrontation led to her dog biting him on the left thigh, prompting his departure.
Conversely, Proctor reported a different sequence of events. He claimed Bickford arrived home intoxicated and instigated a verbal argument. She then spat on him and threw a glass saucer at his right elbow, resulting in swelling and bruising. He added that Bickford threatened him with her dog’s attack if he retaliated. Despite ignoring the threat, the dog bit his left thigh, causing minor bleeding.
The Aftermath and Charges
Proctor flagged down the deputies for assistance after leaving the residence. Following their investigation, Bickford was charged with domestic battery.
