Brandon Garrett and his four dogs were traveling north on U.S. Forest Service Road 39 when he failed to negotiate a curve
and the vehicle plunged off an embankment into a ravine. Despite suffering from injuries, Garrett managed to crawl about 100 yards away from the accident site. Meanwhile, one of his loyal dogs embarked on an extraordinary mission to find help.

The BCSO revealed that the dog reached the family camp early on June 3, signaling relatives that something was wrong. The family initiated a search and eventually located Garrett’s vehicle. However, due to the challenging terrain, they couldn’t reach him immediately. Sheriff Travis Ash and his team employed chainsaws to clear a path and facilitated Garrett’s rescue using a highline rope system.
