With the second season of the Frasier revival on the horizon, Paramount+ has thrilled fans by announcing the return of two beloved characters from the original series. Dan Butler, who played Bob ‘Bulldog’ Briscoe, and Edward Hibbert, known for his role as Gil Chesterton, are set to reprise their iconic roles.
Dan Butler and Edward Hibbert have made an indelible contribution to television,
shared Kelsey Grammer, who couldn’t contain his excitement about their return.
A Look Back at Their Original Contributions
In the original series, Butler’s character Bulldog was a prominent figure, appearing in all but one season of the 11-season run. Known for hosting KACL’s top-rated Gonzo Sports Show, Bulldog’s unrequited crush on Roz added a memorable dynamic to the show.
Similarly, Hibbert’s Gil Chesterton, the flamboyant host of KACL’s Restaurant Beat, became a fan favorite with his biting wit and culinary critiques. Speaking about their return, Grammer stated, I am overjoyed to welcome them back to Frasier and for the opportunity to work together once again.
Returning Faces Enriching Season 2
The addition of these familiar faces builds on the excitement generated by other returning cast members. It’s already confirmed that Peri Gilpin will be back as Roz Doyle. Fans saw her make a surprise appearance in the Season 1 finale, and she will have a recurring role in the new season.
New Cast Additions
The new season also promises fresh interactions with intriguing new characters. Patricia Heaton joins as Holly—an unpretentious Boston native who finds irony in Frasier’s high-brow demeanor. Additionally, Greer Grammer, portraying Roz’s daughter Alice Doyle, brings an exciting connection between characters old and new.
This season also introduces Amy Sedaris portraying Dr. “Doc” Stathos, described as a municipal therapist with a scattered yet folksy demeanor. Sedaris’s character works closely with firefighters at Freddy’s firehouse, potentially creating humorous storylines involving Frasier’s son Freddy.
An Extended Cast Enhances Dynamics
Additionally, Yvette Nicole Brown is set to play Monica—the brilliant but critical older sister of Professor Olivia Finch. Brown’s character adds another layer of complexity and humor with her sharp observations.
As anticipation builds for the second season of Frasier, these well-loved and freshly introduced characters promise to create dynamic interactions that fans won’t want to miss.
