The ocean is calling her once again, and fans couldn’t be more excited. Disney has just dropped the first trailer for Moana 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2016 blockbuster hit, rekindling our love for these beloved characters.

In the trailer, we see a now older Moana, voiced by Auli’i Cravalho, reuniting with Maui, brought to life again by the unmistakable voice of Dwayne Johnson. Moana’s new mission? To reconnect her people across the vast ocean while meeting a plethora of curious creatures and overcoming daunting obstacles along the way.
A Grand New Voyage
The sequel picks up three years after the first film and takes audiences on an expansive new voyage. According to a description from Walt Disney Studios, After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana journeys to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she has ever faced.
Poster Reveals Intriguing Details
On May 28th, Disney shared a new poster where Maui’s Fish Hook and Moana’s oar combine into a ‘2’, hinting at their intertwined destinies. In the background, Moana is seen blowing a conch as the sun sets.
Crew and Musical Collaborations
The sequel is helmed by Dave Derrick Jr., who worked as story director on Strange World and served in the art department for films like Moana and Encanto. The music will be composed by Grammy winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, along with Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa’i and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina.
A Fan-favorite Duo Returns
