In the upcoming film Red One, Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans unite to salvage the holiday season and rescue none other than Santa Claus, portrayed by Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons. 
With a storyline developed by Johnson’s former brother-in-law Hiram Garcia, this action-packed Christmas adventure is directed by Jake Kasdan, celebrated for his work on Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and its sequel.
A Christmas Tale with a Twist
Set to hit theatres on November 15, this Amazon MGM Studios production features Johnson as Callum Drift, the North Pole’s head of security, and Chris Evans as Jack O’Malley, a reformed miscreant on Santa’s ‘naughty list’. The duo embarks on a mission against formidable foes like Krampus and hostile snowmen, all in an effort to save Christmas. After the disappointing performance of Black Adam, Johnson dived headfirst into the making of Red One, promising it would be a “big, fun, action-packed and fresh new take on Christmas lore.”
The Cast that Shines Bright
The film not only stars Johnson, Evans, and Simmons but also features notable actors such as Lucy Liu, Kiernan Shipka, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Nick Kroll, and Kristofer Hivju. Lucy Liu’s addition to the cast brings further excitement to the ensemble. Lucy Liu will be joining the cast of ‘Red One’.
Kiernan Shipka’s Return
Kiernan Shipka who recently starred in Netflix’s Swimming with Sharks, joins the vibrant cast. Her role in such a diverse lineup adds another layer of intrigue to her expanding career. Kiernan Shipka is featured in Netflix’s ‘Swimming With Sharks’.
Behind the Scenes
The filmmaking process saw Jake Kasdan at the helm, whose directing prowess was earlier exhibited in both Jumanji hits with Dwayne Johnson. Footage of Red One was first showcased at CinemaCon to select journalists but under restrictions preventing them from disclosing details.
