Warner Bros had dated for December 2026 now is being billed as a Denis Villeneuve Event Film,
and sources said the studio and Legendary are holding the date with expectations that he wraps up the spectacular trilogy with Dune 3.
Hurdles still have to be cleared as they’re still working on script and locking cast, but it is the project Villenueve has been working on. According to Villeneuve, the depth of Dune lies in how it tells a story about humanity through a future society alien in many respects.
The studio and producer also has set a March 26, 2027, date for their other major franchise, the next installment of the Godzilla-Kong saga. Right now, no comment from Warner Bros or Legendary, but stay tuned for more.
Zendaya’s Robot Body Armor Explained
At the world premiere of ‘Dune: Part Two’, Zendaya embraced themes from classics like ‘Metropolis’ and ‘Barbarella’ with her robot body armor. The suit, an archival creation from fashion designer Thierry Mugler’s fall/winter 1995 couture collection, went by the name Machinenmensch. This particular catsuit was designed over six months in tandem with artist Jean-Jacques Urcun and inspired by Futura from Thea von Harbou’s dystopian novel ‘Metropolis’. The visualization of that novel was brought to life in Fritz Lang’s 1927 film.
Dune Messiah Sets Stage for Future Adaptations
Villeneuve and Legendary are prepping Dune: Messiah, which the filmmaker said in January should be the last Dune movie for me.
Mary Parent commented on Dune: Part Two, stating, Denis made a really extraordinary and special film and it’s been really exciting to see people respond.

The film captures many strange elements that Denis Villeneuve relished bringing to life.
Next Steps for Villeneuve Revealed
Villeneuve shares that after Dune: Messiah he plans to work on ‘Nuclear War: A Scenario’, based on Annie Jacobsen’s nonfiction book. This project will explore the ominous theme of what could happen if nuclear war were imminent.
