Last night, Donald Glover (AKA Childish Gambino) took to Instagram to surprise his fans. He shared a photo teasing an IMAX screening and wrote, Bando Stone trailer is coming tonight @imax.
True to his word, the trailer for Bando Stone And The New World premiered in IMAX theaters on June 27.
The highly anticipated two-minute video starts with Bando Stone (Glover’s character) wandering around an eerily empty post office before moving to a desolate convenience store. There, he meets a character played by Jessica Allain who points a gun at him. Stone then reveals his identity as a famous singer. Further into the trailer, he joins Allain’s character and a young girl as they navigate a post-apocalyptic world filled with giant dangerous creatures.
In April, Glover mentioned some upcoming projects, including this film’s soundtrack which he has labeled as his final Childish Gambino album.
Meanwhile, he’s also gearing up for the release of ‘Atavista’, billed earlier this year as the completed version of his 2020 record ‘3.15.20’. His social media announcement read, The all-new Childish Gambino album comes out in the summer
, alongside hints at special vinyl editions complemented by visuals for each track.
This multi-layered approach highlights Glover’s versatility and continuous evolution both in music and on screen, offering fans an immersive audio-visual experience.
