Danny Garcia was crowned Top Chef on Wednesday night. He took home the title and the $250,000 grand prize, surpassing competitors Savannah Miller and Milwaukee chef Dan Jacobs—a milestone for Wisconsin as Jacobs is the first chef from the state to make it this far on the show.
The season heavily showcased Wisconsin’s culinary culture, from its renowned cheeses to its hearty fish boils. State and local tourism officials have noted a significant uptick in interest towards the state’s food scene, thanks to this spotlight.

Dan Jacobs wowed the judges with every course, starting with a bold tuna tartare accented with ruby red grapefruit and black garlic labneh. Guest judge Carrie Nahabedian noted her repeated desire to revisit his dish, calling it addictive.
Jacobs’ second course featured grilled snapper with ginger and scallions on top of braised pumpkin, with a smoked snapper bone dashi providing depth. His third dish, an oxtail ragu with dumplings and vegetables, further solidified his culinary prowess.
Ending on a sweet note, Jacobs presented a yogurt mousse with coriander, olive oil, and lemon-oil-cooked phyllo crisps. Judging reactions varied; some appreciated its lightness post-oxtail, while others felt Garcia’s meal had stronger highlights overall.
