His brothers Max and Sam Eggers have their own psychological thriller film coming up with A24, titled The Front Room, that looks like a chilling new entry in the pregnancy horror genre.
A Return to Horror for Brandy Norwood
The Front Room marks Brandy Norwood’s return to horror, as the actress and R&B icon is still remembered for her role in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Here, she plays a newly-pregnant woman who finds her household turned upside down by the arrival of her stepmother, played by Kathryn Hunter.
Well-Versed Directors Making Waves
Written and directed by Max and Sam Eggers, the film also stars Andrew Burnap and Neal Huff. Among their previous credits, we see Sam Eggers was a co-writer on the Olympia Dukakis documentary, Olympia, and contributed to The Witch. Max co-wrote The Lighthouse with Robert, indicating he’s got just as twisted a mind as his sibling.
The Synopsis Sets an Unsettling Tone
Here’s the synopsis: Everything goes to hell for newly-pregnant Belinda (Brandy) after her mother-in-law (Kathryn Hunter) moves in. As the diabolical guest tries to get her claws on the child, Belinda must draw the line somewhere… It intensifies this nightmarish scenario by having Kathryn Hunter perform with her signature unsettling physicality, reminiscent of her roles like Macbeth’s witches.
Neal Huff Rounds Out a Stellar Cast
The cast is rounded out by Neal Huff. Known for his pivotal role in Spotlight, where he starred alongside Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, and Mark Ruffalo. His portrayal of activist Phil Saviano was crucial in driving the narrative forward.
