Beloved Hawaii Five-0 and Magnum P.I. actor Taylor Wily, known to many as Teila Tuli, has died at the age of 56. KITV 4 in Honolulu first reported his passing on Thursday, with executive producer Peter M. Lenkov later confirming the news to The Associated Press.

Wily made an enduring impact with his role as Kamekona Tupuola on ‘Hawaii Five-0’, appearing from 2010 to 2020. His character quickly became a fan-favorite, known for bringing humor and heart to the long-running series. Peter M. Lenkov praised Wily’s versatility, noting, Despite the fact that a lot of his ‘Hawaii Five-0’ scenes featured his comedy skills, he was an incredible dramatic actor, as well.

Before conquering the small screen, Wily enjoyed a unique journey across various professions. Known in his early days as Teila Tuli, he was a champion sumo wrestler and professional wrestler for New Japan Pro Wrestling. Additionally, he competed in mixed martial arts, including one stint in UFC before making a full-time transition to acting.
