While ABC announced Joan Vassos as the first ever ‘Golden Bachelorette,’ Lucci revealed that the network had reached out with the hope she’d become their next leading lady.
Susan Lucci, well-known for her iconic role as Erica Kane on All My Children, shared that she has become a fan of The Bachelor franchise recently. Despite this newfound interest, she noted that being the lead wasn’t the right fit for her.
“I believe that they contacted my publicist and it wasn’t for me,”
Lucci explained, adding that, “I watched The Golden Bachelor. I really enjoyed watching The Golden Bachelor. This is a new addiction for me.”
Lucci’s decision to not pursue the role stems from her desire to remain a fan and supporter of the franchise. She cited her age and her contentment with watching the show as reasons for her choice.
“My assistant told me she was going home to watch The Bachelor with her daughters,”
she recalled. “She said, ‘Well, it’s really good.’ I watched it. The first time I watched it was that night a couple seasons ago. I was immediately engaged. I cared. I wanted to know more about these people.”
Despite rumors, sources close to the production confirm that Lucci was not offered the role. Instead, Joan Vassos has been announced as the first Golden Bachelorette. Vassos, known for her appearance on The Golden Bachelor, decided to take the lead role after connecting deeply with viewers.
Vassos expressed her excitement about the new role during an appearance on the Bachelor Happy Hour: Golden Hour podcast. She stated, I really want love. I want to have somebody in my life. I feel like life is better when you share it with somebody.
