Hostin maintains that she’s still close with many former cohosts like Sherri Shepherd and Paula Faris. This likely adds to her surprise when hearing negative remarks from others. A notable exception has been Meghan McCain, who publicly criticized her experience on The View, calling it the most miserable I was in my entire life.

Barbara Walters, the show’s creator, set a high bar for mutual respect among cohosts. As Hostin recalls Walters telling her, disagreements are healthy but must remain respectful. This ethos continues with current cohosts like Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg.
