Stephen King’s tale gets a fresh look
Based on Stephen King’s tale from his famous anthology Skeleton Crew, The Monkey stars Theo James as twin brothers Hal and Bill. They stumble upon a cursed toy monkey during their childhood, leading to a series of grisly events. Years later, the estranged siblings reunite to stop the curse for good.
A star-studded cast
The Monkey also features Christian Convery as young Hal and Bill, alongside stars like Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, and Sarah Levy. With Perkins adapting King’s story for the screen and horror maestro James Wan producing, this film promises a lot.
Shooting wrapped before Cannes
The Monkey was completed before making waves at the May Cannes Market. According to NEON’s quick acquisition of the project, they have high hopes following the imminent release of Longlegs. This film, starring Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage, drops July 12.

If Longlegs scores well in theaters—and its trailer suggests it might—expect NEON to lavish marketing attention on The Monkey.
