The casting shakeups at General Hospital just keep on coming! Following the news of Bryan Craig’s one-day return as Morgan and Jonathan Jackson’s longer-term comeback as Lucky Spencer, Michael Easton has officially announced his exit from the show. Easton, who has portrayed Dr. Hamilton Finn since 2016, shared the news with fans in a heartfelt video.
In his announcement, Easton began with a nod to his heritage, saying, I’ve always been partial to the Irish good-bye. That’s where you leave the party without actually telling anyone you’re gone.
However, he expressed that this time, fans deserved more transparency: I just want to let you know that I just filmed my final scenes here at General Hospital.
Easton’s appreciation for his time on the show was evident: I’ve loved every minute that I’ve been here. I want to thank the entire cast and crew for allowing me to share their stage this past 10 years. Most importantly, I want to thank all of you for the kindness and love you’ve shown me and my family. I won’t ever forget you.
His departure was also met with emotional responses from his co-stars. His former castmate Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) commended him by saying, The class, grace and elegance in which you just did that is why I will miss you every working day.
From Tanner Scofield to Dr. Hamilton Finn
Michael Easton’s journey in daytime television began with his role as Tanner Scofield on Days of Our Lives, where he achieved recognition for his character between 1991-92.
Following this, he secured notable roles in primetime TV shows like Total Recall 2070 and Mutant X. In 2001, he joined the GH spin-off Port Charles, captivating audiences as the vampire Caleb Morley until the show was canceled in 2003.
An Enduring Character in an Ever-changing Show
After Port Charles, Easton portrayed John McBain on One Life to Live, beginning in October 2003. Even after OLTL ended, he transitioned smoothly into his roles on GH.
Initially played on General Hospital as John McBain, following some legal disputes over character rights, Easton returned as Silas Clay. He found his stride once again with his role as Dr. Hamilton Finn starting in 2016.
