Action-Comedy Pairing of Wahlberg and Berry
Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry co-star in the upcoming action-comedy flick, The Union, set to premiere on Netflix this August 16. In a fresh trailer drop, audiences get a glimpse of their dynamic as former high school sweethearts turned super spies.
A Unique Reunion
The trailer intriguingly reveals that the way Mike (Wahlberg) and Roxanne (Berry) reunite at a bar isn’t coincidental. Instead, Roxanne turns out to be a secret agent who orchestrated their encounter. She recruits Mike for a mission, due to the agency’s need for a low-profile agent. This twist adds a unique edge to their story.
Banter and Explosive Action
The buzz around The Union is largely due to the chemistry between Berry and Wahlberg. Their banter, showcased in the trailer, promises both laughs and heartfelt moments. Director Julian Farino emphasized this in an official statement:
Roxanne and Mike’s relationship is going to define the movie. For me, even the action in the movie was always about how to keep our characters integral to the explosions and fun and games.

Directed by four-time Emmy nominee Julian Farino, known for his work on Ballers, In Treatment, and Giri/Haji, The Union‘s screenplay is penned by Joe Barton (The Lazarus Project) and David Guggenheim making his feature film screenwriting debut.

The film boasts a talented lineup including Mike Colter, noted for his performance in Luke Cage. He will appear alongside other notable names like Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (His Dark Materials), Jessica De Gouw (Arrow), Alice Lee (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist), Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen) and J.K. Simmons (Invincible).
