Beloved Judge Frank Caprio, famed for his role on Caught in Providence, has joyously marked the end of his harrowing battle with pancreatic cancer. From being diagnosed in November 2023 to ringing the bell at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute, Caprio’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable.
Emotional Milestone Achieved
Surrounded by his family and hospital staff, Caprio received an emotional send off as he completed his final radiation treatment. Reflecting on the moment, he said, Ringing that bell to me was more symbolic than anything else you could imagine. I’m ringing the bell of happiness. I’m ringing the bell of freedom from cancer. I’m ringing the bell of healing. I’m ringing the bell of giving hope to other people.
The Intense Battle
Caprio’s regimen included six months of chemotherapy and five doses of radiation, which had a debilitating impact on him for quite some time. Despite this, he maintained a positive outlook throughout. You have to dig down deep within your courage and make up your mind that you’re going to beat this,
he shared.
A Journey to Recovery
The 87-year-old judge expressed immense gratitude towards his medical team and support system. Fortunately for me, I was able to receive some excellent medical care. I know that it was a bleak prognosis but I never gave up hope,
Caprio noted.
A Star in and Out of Courtroom
Frank Caprio has served as a Providence Municipal Court Judge since 1985. His measured, empathetic demeanor has captivated audiences on Caught in Providence, which has aired for over two decades.
This year, Caprio is nominated for Daytime Personality – Daily at the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards. Now in Los Angeles with his family, he eagerly anticipates attending the event after missing last year’s due to ongoing treatment. I feel honored and I feel great,
he mused.
