Pixar’s latest emotional rollercoaster, Inside Out 2, is set to hit theaters on June 14, offering viewers an extended cinematic experience. Directed by Kelsey Mann, who previously worked on Onward and Lightyear, the film aims to continue the success of its predecessor. During a recent interview, Mann shared his excitement about the project: When somebody asked ‘Are you intimidated by following the footsteps?’ I’m more excited than anything because the first film, when I went home to think about whether I should say yes to this opportunity or not, I looked at the first movie and I’m like, ‘Man, it’s everything I love about movies.
Mann expressed his hope for the reception of Inside Out 2 , reflecting on the positive impact of the original. It was really fun. It was really imaginative and it made a meaningful impact on the world. That’s why I’m here. I want to do that
, he said. If I can’t make some teenager’s life just that much better like the first film did for many people, then why am I here?

The Decision for Extended Theatrical Release
Speaking with Bloomberg, Pixar President Jim Morris discussed the studio’s commitment to an extended theatrical run: I hope that we will not release another feature film on Disney+
, he explained. If we do more stuff for Disney+, it should be a series, and then that makes a clean demarcation between what we do for theaters and what we do for streaming.
This decision comes after discussions within Pixar about giving their films more time to shine on the big screen.
