The excitement is building for Doctor Who fans as the series gears up for its much-anticipated finale. This season has been a roller coaster, and the final episodes promise to be no different.
The BBC series brings back Mel Bush, reprised by Bonnie Langford, who returns to her role at UNIT. She initially appeared during the series’ 60th anniversary special, The Giggle. Now, Mel’s mission sees her world intertwine with The Doctor (played by Ncuti Gatwa) once again.
Returning Characters and New Dynamics
The official synopsis reveals: The Doctor and UNIT investigate Ruby’s past. But as the Time Window reveals horrifying secrets from Christmas Eve, the mysterious Triad Technology unleash the greatest evil of all.
Speaking exclusively about her return ahead of the two-part finale, Langford shared insights into Mel’s character development. Mel has been spying in another job to gather info on an organization that UNIT is concerned about. And then the Doctor arrives because he’s heard about things as well. It all cranks up very quickly,
she explained.
An Unexpected Ride
Discussing one of the standout scenes where Mel takes the Doctor on a Vespa, Langford described it as hilarious and camp. It’s camp as hell – it is brilliant!
she laughed.
This season not only features returning characters but also dives into new ones. A notable inclusion is Susan Twist playing Susan Triad. Her character adds depth and intrigue to the plot, particularly through fierce interactions with established characters.
Unveiling Ruby’s Secrets
The investigation into Ruby’s past by the Doctor and UNIT unfolds many secrets. According to the show’s narrative:
The Time Window reveals horrifying secrets from Christmas Eve while Triad Technology unleashes unprecedented evil.
Fans have much to look forward to as the grand story arc comes to a climax. As per Langford, I feel blessed to be part of such an iconic series once more.
