The actress, 32, cut a sophisticated figure as always in a pretty white lace dress as she made her arrival at the celebrity hot spot in central London. She looked great in the ruffled sheer number which had zip detailing and was cinched in at the waist to show off her figure. Daisy boosted her height with pointy black heels and accessorised with dangly silver earrings. The beauty wore her brunette tresses pulled back in an updo and sported flawless makeup.

Glamorous Screening

Earlier in the night, she made sure to pose up a storm as she attended the glamorous screening event. The star wowed in a quirky black PVC midi dress featuring a daring plunging neckline. Complete with puffed shoulder pads, Daisy cinched in her waist with a matching black leather belt and accessorized the look with some cream leather heels.

The star, who plays legendary swimmer Gertrude ‘Trudy’ Ederle in the film, beamed in snaps as she gelled her hair back across her head and tucked her brunette locks behind her ears.

Inspiration Behind the Story

Young Woman And The Sea is based on Glenn Stout’s book of the same name, which was originally published in 2009. The movie is centered on the life of Gertrude Ederle, an Olympic gold medalist who became the first woman to swim across the English Channel in 1926. In addition to Daisy, the film also stars Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Stephen Graham, and Christopher Eccleston.

Daisy recently recalled a ‘trippy’ encounter she had with the legendary long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad at the recent Hollywood premiere of the film.

I was washing my hands in the bathroom, waiting for my people, and she came in,” the Star Wars alum told THR on Tuesday. “It was the most surreal thing. I kept going, ‘This is so trippy, this is so trippy. You are real. You did the thing, and I just played the person that did the thing.’

A Pat on The Back

But she was very encouraging because she could see that I had trained really hard. And that’s wonderful [to hear], particularly from the sports people that were there last night.I really wanted to do justice by swimmers, and in a physical way, I wanted to try and do as much as I could to look able and to sell the story. So getting a pat on the back from Diana Nyad was pretty cool.

The feeling was mutual for Nyad, who wrote on Instagram on May 17 that Daisy was ‘captivating’ in her performance as Ederle.

Training with Olympians

Daisy was trained by Olympic silver medalist Siobhan-Marie O’Connor to more authentically portray Trudy Ederle in Joachim Rønning’s biopic, which hits limited UK/US theatres this Friday. Speaking about filming, Daisy explained:We did a day of underwater work in a tank. We had done all of the open water stuff in the Black Sea at nighttime, which obviously had to be more controlled because it was more dangerous. But then we did a day of underwater work, and it was more comfortable to stay in the pool.

It was enjoyable,” she continued, “but it’s that funny thing where you don’t want to eat too much. You’re starving because you’ve done so much work, but you don’t want to eat too much in case you vomit.

The Journey Behind The Film

Development on the movie began in 2015 when Jerry Bruckheimer obtained the rights to Stout’s novel. Although Lily James was initially set to portray Ederle, she departed from the project and Daisy joined ‘Young Woman And The Sea’‘s cast in 2020.

Bruckheimer’s gamble seems to have paid off spectacularly (focus_on). The initial test screenings indicate that this project has resonated strongly with audiences better than any other film he’s worked on during his illustrious career spanning over 50 years.
