The discovery of two women’s bodies in a freezer has intensified an already fraught custody battle in Oklahoma. Authorities reported finding the remains of Rachel Wilson and her partner, Heather Vaughn, in a buried freezer at Wilson’s ex-partner’s home.
Timeline of Events Leading Up to the Discovery
Several at-home, non-medically assisted inseminations took place over the weekend of December 7-9, 2018, which resulted in Wilson’s pregnancy. Wilson and Williams married on June 1, 2019, when Wilson was six months pregnant. When the child was born in August 2019, both Wilson and Williams were listed as mothers on the birth certificate, and the couple would raise the boy for a little more than two years until their marriage fell apart.
Allegations and Legal Proceedings
In November 2021, Wilson obtained a Victim Protective Order against Williams, and she and the boy moved in with Vaughn. This decision led to an intensification of the custody dispute between the former partners.
The Tragedy Unveiled
The police discovered the bodies following a tip-off from a concerned neighbor who noticed unusual activity. During a press conference, Oklahoma Police spokesperson Simon Byrne stated:
This is a chilling end to what had already been a distressing custody case.
Kris Williams’ Perspective on the Court Ruling
Kris Williams, still entangled in legal battles over custody rights, expressed her frustration with the current state of affairs: “His mom”, declared Williams during her recent court appearance. The remark highlights the ongoing contention and emotional stakes involved.
