Following the success of Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches, AMC is set to expand its Anne Rice Immortal Universe with a new series, tentatively titled The Talamasca. The network has officially greenlit this third series, which delves into the secretive organization tasked with tracking and containing supernatural entities across the globe.
The Team Behind The Talamasca
John Lee Hancock, known for The Blind Side, will serve as co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer alongside Mark Lafferty. Hancock is also expected to take on directorial duties. Reflecting on his involvement, Hancock shared, This all started for me with a call from Mark Johnson, who asked if I’d ever heard of The Talamasca. I was intrigued by the idea of an organization that had more than a passing resemblance to the CIA or MI6, which are necessary but not always necessarily transparent.
A Closer Look at The Talamasca Organization
The concept revolves around the men and women responsible for tracking and containing witches, vampires, werewolves, and other creatures as depicted in several of Rice’s novels. This new series is penned to premiere in 2025 with an initial six-episode season.
Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios at AMC Networks, commented, The beloved world created by Anne Rice continues to be a vast and exciting source of story and character for us to explore.
The Talamasca’s Connection to Other Series
This isn’t the first time viewers will be encountering the Talamasca in AMC’s adaptations. The organization has already featured prominently in both Interview with the Vampire, where Justin Kirk portrays Raglan James, and in Mayfair Witches, which introduced Ciprien Grieve played by Tongayi Chirisa.
Immortal Universe Continues Its Expansion
The Annapolis-based production is part of a larger effort by AMC to expand its Immortal Universe. Since launching this universe with Interview with the Vampire in 2022, followed by Mayfair Witches in 2023, both series have received continued interest and praise.
Upcoming Productions and Expectations
While fans eagerly await more content from this expanded universe, productions are already underway. Reports indicate that production on the six-episode show will start in Manchester, England in fall 2025. With anticipation building for both returning and new stories within this universe, AMC’s latest series promises to offer fresh insights and thrilling narratives.
